Pripyat was an advanced and model city in the USSR (Soviet Union). It was given this title in 1977. It was inhabitant for only 16 years. Modern and young (the avarage age of people who lived there was 26 y.o.) was left abandoned on April 28th, 1986. The story would be really sad if not the new town named Slavutich – built shortly after the accidents. But what do we know about Slavitich?
It is an amazing town specifically built for the workers of the CNPP. The population of Slavutych is 25 000. This is a place where most of the workers of the Exclusion Zone (10km circle) live now. They take a daily train to work (the Power Plant, Storage constructions etc) and view the dead Prypiat on the way in and out. It’s absolutelly worth of visiting Slavutich as it was built to replace Pripyat and it is resembles it in some way.
